family | mom 60th b-day present | amsterdam based family photographer

This shoot was on the day of the GIRO d’Italia, in Amsterdam. We were suppost to shoot at Dam square and were meeting in Krasnapolski. I tried to get to the dam, and run in to all kinds of roadblocks for the GIRO. The 1st roadblock I could talk the guy at the fence into letting me trough. The next one I had to cycle around a bit, but found a way across. Then I was almost there and there was no way of getting across the street, accept for taking a very high foodpassengers bridge that they had constructed. And I was on my bike with all my gear. I tried to lift my bicicly to carry it on the stairs and didn’t succeed. I must have looked very helpless since a very nice man offered to help me and he carried my bicicle on his back across the bridge.

Finally I made it the Dam square and saw all kinds of fences in front of the momument and I smelled a horrible smell. The fences where there to protect the “kransen” that were put there on May 4th, @ “doden herdenking” and the horrible smell was there since the garbage collecting company was on stike as of queens day. What a great location for a shoot.

We decided to go somewhere else. And while walking, you can guess, it started to rain…The fun thing was that nobody complained and we took some nice pictures while they were sitting under a sunscreen and even borrowed an umbrella so I could keep my gear dry. Then we walked on to Magna Plaze and took some fun shots inside. I love the picture of mom and dad @ the piano. Finally it cleared up and in the end we could take some portrait outside. The shoot turned out totally different then planned and I was thankfull to have such fun and flexible clients!!!

I was quite a challenge this shoot due to the limited time frame we had. We were @9 AM in the “Amsterdamsche bos” for the shoot and we manged to get some cool pictures!

The sun was shining and it was nice and warm so I asked when taking the separate family portraits if they could lay down in the grass. And they all did, but the grass was still very wet! OEPS…I was thinking about taking the picture with all of them lying on the grass in a cicle but wasn’t sure if I could ask it when my friend Saskia suggested it might be nice to take a picture of all of them laying in a circle in the grass…ha ha and they did and all got wet. You’ve got to do something for a nice picture.

The pictures with the masks on were also a lot of fun to take! So strange how your face totally changes with a mask on ;-)

Have a great sunny Saturday! xoxo eef

family | beach shoot | amsterdamse familiefotograaf

This is one of my favorite shots, love the colors of their t-shirts and the bare feet!

Last May I Photographed this amazing family. We had a great day at the beach. I love photographing on the beach. The kids loved it too. I made some really nice canvasses with collages for them. One with the pictures from the beach.

And one with all the famous buildings near their house. I did another shoot where I took pictures of the Magere brug, the Stopera, the Amstelhotel & the Hermitage. What an amazing buildings & bridge! I used it in the background and loved how it turned out.

Have a great Monday! XOXO eef

P.S. I can’t believe how time is flying…in a week from now I will be on a sunny island :-D
